May Meeting

Our meeting commenced at 2:00 P.M. Red Lobster in Kissimmee, Fl. President James Lisk opened by highlighting the success of the Fantasy of Flight Show.   New Business: 1) The 2010 Turkey Rod Run is around the corner and Chuck Beason has all but secured the same great location for our Club. With only 15 spaces available they will go quickly, so please notify Chuck if you plan to attend, This is a 1st serve basis. 2) Our Chapter sadly noted the passing of two National Club members, Jerry Miles and Hal Renenger. If you have attended a National Convention you probably had met these gentlemen.  Our prayers go to their families.  They will be missed by all. 3) Our monthly meeting for June will be changed to the June 19 to coincide with the Strawberry Classic Car Show in Plant City, Fl. Plan to attend the meeting a 2:00 P.M. and enjoy the local shops and restaurants, not to mention the hundreds of automobiles on display. 4) In an effort to go Green- conserve natural resources and our club treasury, the Suncoast would like to invite you to receive your monthly newsletter electronically.   This one will be a trial for some. If you choose not to receive our newsletter by this method please contact Carolyn and your next newsletter will be mailed. 5) There will be no meeting for July or August. Our September meeting will be held at the Red Lobster in Kissimmee, Fl. Our October meeting will be held in Lakeland, Fl. in conjunction with the Lake Mirror Classic Car Show. Meeting adjourned at 3:15 P.M. President James Lisk won the 50/50 drawing and donated 50% to the treasury.

Turkey Run 2010

I have received confirmation of receipt of our request for club parking. We requested the same parking area as we have had for the past three years as everyone was in agreement with this selection. We should receive notification soon of our assigned parking area. I will pass this on as soon as it is available. Once again, if you would like to join us, we will fill our 15 spaces on a first come, first served basis for Suncoast Members and FCA Members due to the limited space we will have. Please let me know via email, crbeason@cfl.rr.com if you plan to attend and on which day/days you will attend. The Suncoast Chapter will pick up the expense of reserving the club parking as in the past.

 Thanks,

Chuck

4th of July is a great time to have a good watermelon and some BBQ Hash and boiled corn on the cob. Here is a family recipe I hope you will try for your family.

 Barbecue Hash

1 ½ lbs beef stew meat                       2 slices lemon

1 ½ lbs pork stew meat                       2 medium onions chopped

¼ lb. butter                                           ½ cup catsup

½ cup brown sugar                              3 Tbsp Worcestershire sauce

½ tsp Tabasco sauce                          2 cups water or beef broth

3 Tbsp prepared mustard                    ½ cup vinegar

Cook meat until tender. Combine butter, sugar, vinegar, lemon, onions and mustard in broth or water. Cook 20 minutes or until onions are done. Add meat that has been pulled, then Worcestershire sauce, Tabasco, and catsup and salt to taste. Simmer for 40 minutes. Serve on a bun or with just on a plate with coleslaw and mashed potatoes as a side. If you have leftovers freeze for 30 days.
