 Suncoast Falcons at Old Town

Several Suncoast Falcons joined the Saturday Night Cruisers on the streets of Old Town for some car talk and tire kicking. There were also many questions answered from the crowds that stopped by to admire the Falcons. Falcons on display included 65 Sprint HT, 65 Sprint CV, 63 Sprint CV and a 63 Sprint HT. There were also several Suncoast Members in the group without their Falcons. When Falcons are on display you always hear comments such as: “my parents had a Falcon” or “ I wish I still had my Falcon”. It seems like everyone at one time owned a Falcon or knew someone that had owned a Falcon.

Waterford Lakes 2008

Almost as soon as we pulled in next to President Henry Del Pico in the Home Depot parking lot the rain started to fall. By the time the Suncoast Falcons went across the street and got parked, the rain had stopped. Some of us decided to go over to Too Jays for a delicious breakfast.  As we were leaving, the rain came again.  The rain continued on and off again through most of show. For the most part the rain was light, so we managed to walk around, see the cars, visit with friends and just enjoy our Falcons.  Some even managed to get in a little shopping! Although a couple of Suncoast Chapter folks left early during a period of harder rain, most stayed until the sun came out about 2 PM, when we got out our chairs and sat down for more fellowship and Falcon fun. Our endurance paid off when all the remaining Falcons were awarded a Top 50 Popular Vote plaque. We’ll definitely be back for this event next year.

 Titus Nights - March 1,2008

Chuck and Carolyn Beason had told Mary and me about the Titusville Cruise-in planned for March 1st in downtown Titusville, so we decided to cruise over to check it out.  After a round of tire kicking at Chuck & Carolyn’s house, we loaded up in three Falcons and headed downtown.  Chuck & Carolyn were in his Sprint, Jay & Michelle were in the Futura hardtop and Mary and I in our Sprint convertible.  What a surprise when we arrived to find downtown already packed with classic cars.  They parked us on the corner on Washington Street and the 3 Falcons were by far the hit of the show.  There was a crowd of people around the Falcons all night long.  There were lots of nice Fords including about seven 2-seater T-Birds, two ’57 Ford Skyliner retractable hardtops and a total of seven Falcons at the show.  There were lots of shops and restaurants open and we had a delicious meal at Kloibers Cobbler Eatery before calling it a night.

I think this cruise would make a fantastic outing for the Suncoast Chapter next year.  Even if we couldn’t make the show, a day-cruise over to Kloibers Cobbler Eatery to park our Falcons and eat would be a lot of fun.

POWER UP WITH SPINACH AND AVOCADO

Reprint of Florida Today

The benefits: These foods contain folate (also found in dark leafy greens, beans, lentils, asparagus, oranges and sunflower seeds), which helps keep levels of homocysteine (an amino acid in the blood linked to heart disease) in check. Low folate levels are also linked with mood disorders such as depression while reducing the efficacy of antidepressants. And that’s not all. Folate helps treat chronic inflammatory skin diseases, like psoriasis, according to a recent study in the Journal of Dermatologic Treatment. You can get the synthetic form, called folic acid, in fortified products like cereal and pasta.

How Much: 400 mcg per day

Try: Creating a spinach salad with sliced avocado, or making your own nutty trail mix. Combine sunflower seeds, peanuts and dried cranberries.

COCONUT CAKE

 1 box white cake mix

1 (14 oz.) can Eagle Brand milk

1 small container Cool Whip

1 (7 oz.) package frozen coconut thawed ( where cool whip and frozen fruit are located)

1 small can Coco Lopez

Mix and bake cake per directions on box and pour into a 13 x 9 x 2 inch pan. Cool for about 15 minutes and pour the Eagle Brand milk over cake and let set for 20 minutes. Pour the small can of Coco Lopez over cake and let set for another 20 minutes. Cover cake with Cool Whip and sprinkle coconut over top. Keep refrigerated until ready to cut.

TIP: A few scoops of homemade Vanilla ice cream, on top, a piece of Heaven.
